Pupils are introduced to the myths and legends of Cu Chulainn through the Nerve Centre's animated series and a hands-on experience of digital storytelling. They will explore his life and times from when he was born, through how he got his famous name, and of course the Cattle Raid of Cooley.

Pupils will learn concepts in film language such as the 3 C's and the 3 S's - Character, Camera, Colour, Story, Settings, and Sound. They will explore these concepts using practical examples and creative activites which utilise the animated series. The time period of CuChulainn will be explored in particular the Celts and where they lived, how they dressed, what jewelry they wore, etc... Pupils will use their new knowledge plus learn additional drawing techniques before producing their own visual interpretations of Cu Chulainn and one of the legends surrounding him.

Using simple digital storytelling software, pupils' drawings and voices, pupils will learn storyboarding techniques and create their own stories about Cu Chulainn the hero who transcends both traditions.
